Before I give my thoughts on this product, let’s drive back a little.  My early experience with finishing powders was in a form of a mineral based.  I remember that was in year 2009.  I was a beginner and I recall I ended up throwing the powders away because they were messy and sometimes they made me sneeze.

I visited again finishing powders this year and now it is in a compact version — compact means less chaos!  I have a compulsion toward MAC Cosmetics so I picked the MAC Prep + Prime Transparent Finishing Powder/Pressed ($25.00 for 6.3g) with confidence.

Sexy packaging–

The packaging was lovely.  Classy and elegant were the words came to my mind the day I got the black box from MAC.  It had sparkles all over.  Super, super nice.

Mirror, mirror!

Without doubt, the MAC Prep + Prime Transparent Finishing Powder/Pressed is easy to slide in my purse and take along with me but the best thing about this pressed compact is can also reflect my image.  No need to bring an extra mirror with me, which I usually do, by the way.

Individuality–

Finishing powders are usually mistaken for setting powders.  I have a little knowledge about that but I am sure they are both different.  Finishing powder is routinely applied on top of the setting powder, which I practice.  I lightly dust the t-zone area (forehead, nose, and chin) using either my MAC 150 Large Powder Brush (before going out) or a sponge (when I am on mobile) and avoid to go overboard.  I re-apply after few hours or depending on the case of my oily face that particular day.

Moderately–

Finishing powders are bound to create a white cast on the face and this white cast may be visible especially if you are going to have your picture taken and the photographer prefers to use a flash.  This is the reason why I mentioned above that this product should only be subtly applied.

To wrap this up, I totally love this product.  It makes my foundation even better.  I think I made a terrific purchase and will surely buy it once again once I see the bottom of the pan.  Thank you for reading!

xoxo, laarni
