FASHION 21 COSMETICS
Say what? Local beauty brand, Fashion 21 Cosmetics, has recently reached out to me for a possible collaboration. Of course, I said, yes, without hesitation. This brand has been in the business since the mid 80s and was labeled as one of the leading cosmetic brands in the Philippines.
Well, I bet this was the brand that my mother used to purchase back in the day — the time when the electric-blue eyeliners were in heavy use.
Anyway, I am glad you have stumbled upon my blog today as I will be featuring a couple of makeup products from Fashion 21 Cosmetics: Mascara and Liquid Eyeliner. These beauty items are commonly used to enhance the appearance of our eyes.

FASHION 21 LIQUID EYELINER WATER-RESISTANT
Fashion 21 Cosmetics Liquid Eyeliner Water-Resistant (PHP135.00 or US$2.5 for 9mL) claims to be long-lasting, water-proof, smudge-proof, tear-proof, and has a “fine-tipped brush” that lets you create a variety of looks. There are two shades: Luscious Deep Brown (matte/opaque) and Intense Black (matte/opaque).
For those who are more experienced with liquid eyeliner, in general, the applicator on these are uncomplicated and easy enough to control. My experience, on the other hand, was kind of rough because I am a gel-liner gal since day one and my first venture on this one was actually terrifying.
I did pretty well with few mistakes but I wish the brush could use a nudge of stiffness. Because to me, it felt somewhat too flexible. But maybe it was just the noob in me. My friend on Facebook swore that this liquid eyeliner is the bomb! I guess, we all have room for improvement, right?
Did not bleed, smudge, or fade on me so be sure you use a good makeup remover like the two-phase ones, cotton pads, and lots of q-tips to entirely remove the product from the skin.
FASHION 21 DOUBLE-UP MASCARA
Fashion 21 Cosmetics Double-Up Mascara (PHP225.00 or US$4.5 for 8g) claims that it has an ability to lengthen, strengthen, and separate without clumping and smudging the eyelashes. It’s only available in one shade: Black.
As for my initial attempt, the formula itself was very lengthening and did an awesome job at separating lashes without clumping, however, if you delay too long between coats, it instantly dries down. I would suggest that you need to work fast to get the maximum effect with this one. Overall, I’m very pleased with this mascara from Fashion 21.
The wand is quite large for my small eyes but after test-driving this mascara for few days, I am starting to get the hang of it. And for some reason, this is the only mascara I’ve ever tried that made me put on my bottom lash mascara without getting it all over my face! Seriously.
To add, liquid eyeliner is a perfect tool to create a flick aka the cat eyeliner look. For the next few days, let me experiment on that idea and will surely share my progress here. Wish me luck!

It’s great to hear that the more affordable brands are producing better quality products! I usually buy the Fashion 21 false lash glue because I don’t get the stinging sensation on my eyes whenever I use it. 🙂
