My Super Simple Hair Care Routine

My super simple hair care routine

My hair care routine is super simple: Shampooing and conditioning.  I know that hair experts believe that washing our hair everyday is bad as over washing can strip off hair’s natural oil.  However, shampooing my hair happens every day.  At least, once a day.  I refuse to skip this routine because my hair gets too oily especially after a very perspiring sunny afternoon.

My hair type falls under 1C, Straight (Coarse).  Very disobedient and hard to curl.  Very thick that I treat it as my blanket during cold weather days.

SHAMPOO–

Original Mane ‘n Tail Shampoo (P117.00 for 120mL ) is my current shampoo.  I believe this was so big in the late ’90s and I am glad it’s still around.  It has mild ingredients and moisturizers to give body, shine and manageability.

CONDITIONER–

Cream Silk Hair Fall Defense (P53.50 for 90mL ) is my conditioner this month.  I tend to change brands from time to time but I particularly choose conditioners that promise less breakage and will make my hair stronger and of course shiny.  I condition my hair every day.

My hair had experienced such a dramatic phase after I gave birth in 2012.  My hair fall lasted for almost two years.  To add, my hair became wavy/curly — I was happy for a moment because I’ve always wanted to have curly hair but the waves I got were just in some parts.  Yes, patchy and uneven locks.  What?

It’s funny that I used to try different shampoos and conditioners back in the day.  Addressing my main hair problems was out of the picture and I just let my compulsion to acquire these colorful bottles in different sizes and put them straight in my shopping basket.  Ridiculous, right?  But right now that point in my life is finally over and I would like to continue to support my hair issues: Dry scalp and hair fall.

HAIR GEL–

I found Bench Fix Hair Gel (P65 for 135g) at the supermarket few weeks ago.  I always avoid the hair gel section because I thought they were nonessential hair products but my attitude towards them recently has changed since my husband goes there to rack up his favorite hair styling wax and I thought I’d try one.

I picked this particular gel up because I thought it can control my spiky hair.  There are days that few strands of my hair go up and they are more noticeable when I do the ponytail than when I let my hair down.  Unfortunately, this gel neglects that issue — according to my observation, heh.  To be on the positive side, my hair becomes in the mood and it’s easy to style.  Well, the only style I do to my hair is the side swept bangs.  So anyway, I consider this hair gel a must have for my apathetic mane.

HAIR DRYER–

My five-year-old hair dryer that I bought from Watson’s is still sticking!  This was around P1,000+ I believe that time.  When I was a lot younger, I’d blow dry my hair almost everyday but now I’d just do it once a week as it takes a lot of time and I know blow drying can be damaging to the hair too.

What’s your hair care routine?  Until next post!

  1. Wow..if only my hair was that easy to manage:s Luck you Laarni!! Ill take straight coarse over curly coarse anyday:s I used the Mane& Tail detangler spray and their strengthener spray too for years and loved them. My hair has since become fussier and I’m now using a whole bunch of other stuff to keep it in check. I got a T3 and Chi Rocket as wedding gifts ( lol I asked for them in lieu of jewellery!) and luuuuv them!
