L’Oréal Paris created a gel eye liner in a pen format?  Again, gel eye liner in a pen format?  How do you like that!?  Whoa!  I am exagerrating once again but I love this kind of change.

L’Oréal Paris Super Liner Gelmatic in Ultra Black (P595.00) has five major features: (1) Gel eye liner in a retractable pen format, (2) 100% smudge proof, (3) long-lasting, (4) intense matte finish, (5) quick, precise & easy application.

I think I have finally found my new love when it comes to eyeliner application.  Over the past few years, I have been a major abuser of my gel liner pots that will decently work with a sturdy eye makeup brush.  I thought this love affair will be forever until the joy of discovering new innovations just hit me and just totally happened with this automatic crayon.

DIMENSION & SIZE

L’Oréal Paris Super Liner Gelmatic in Ultra Black is a lightweight pen, which is more or less 13cms in length, while the gel is roughly 3cms long when it’s stretched outside to the fullest.  The pen is comfortable to hold and easy to use.

RETRACTABLE SUPER POWER

It is reasonable to say that L’Oréal Paris Super Liner Gelmatic in Ultra Black may fall under the out of the ordinary category because this gelmatic pen is retractable.  Meaning: It comes in a twist up pen where it can be pulled backward or inside.  Very convenient, I must say!

However, the only real downside of this genius cutting edge is that you need to be very careful when covering the tip with its cap because you might damage the product when you unwittingly close the cap when the gel is still outside.  I think this warning is actually intended for me as I am like an absent-minded professor sometimes.

Okay, let’s move on!

THE PRIVATE SHARPENER

If the Sales Assistant failed to introduce to you the hidden sharpener, well, it’s located at the bottom of the pen.  If you think your pen needs a sharpening, use this and treat it as if you’re just sharpening a regular pencil but be sure you twist the sharpener as gentle as possible.

To clean the sharpener, you may remove the entire white plastic, which is attached to the bottom cap.  Use a clean cotton pads or cloth to achieve spotless sharpener.

SMUDGE-PROOF & LONG-LASTING

L’Oréal Paris claims that Super Liner Gelmatic in Ultra Black is 100% smudge-proof and can last up to 12 hours or more.  Although I believe in these claims as I wore this product for almost 8 hours but the weather was so cold when I donned this and my lids were nicely cooperating.  Its gel formula might smear on me when I am on the edge of perspiration but that would be a rare occasion on my part because I skip eye makeup as much as possible when the sun is in its inflaming state.

For your notes, I prefer to wear this product on top of my favorite eye primer.  It’s a must for me just to be sure that I am always on the safer side.  If you know what I mean.

INTENSE MATTE FINISH

I swear under oath that this provides a true jet black color and gives a fierce matte finish.  The only thing that I think it’s fair to acknowledge is that I needed the pen to glide few times on my skin to achieve the intensity I wanted on my eye liners, which I happily accomplished, btw.  I just needed to highlight that observation to be fair with my gel liners on pots because they exclusively do this job very well where only one stroke is desired and it’s ready.  Yes, I still do love my pots.

QUICK, PRECISE & EASY APPLICATION

L’Oréal Paris Super Liner Gelmatic in Ultra Black is perfect for beginners or persons who are unskilled in eye liner application.  This precision pen is super easy to use that you will be an eye liner master in no time.

To be honest, I still experience this anxiety every time I use gel eye liners that come in pots because I always need a steady hand to execute better lines using a brush but with this gelmatic pen you can never go wrong.  I love it!

DRAWBACKS

We need to accept the fact that with every product there is always a downside.  This product is very difficult to remove even I use my tried-and-true makeup removers.  This is always a problem with smudge-proof products but a smart solution I can suggest is to use qtips or these little rods with cotton buds on either end.  They can be used for cleaning/removing hard to reach area of the lids.

BONUS: TIGHTLINING

AT LAST!  I can do now tightlining!  I know so much makeup lingo is going on here but tightlining is a makeup technique where you apply product on waterlines.  Been wanting to line my upper rims but the lack of brush was an obstruction.  My waterline under my upper lashes is noticeable so when you check out my past FOTDS, they looked apparent.  I am glad I own this magical pen now!
